The 2008 Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities Opens
The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, Office of Diversity, is participating in this year's Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities. USDA is a member of the Workforce Recruitment Program consortium.
The Workforce Recruitment Program is a resource for employers nationwide to identify qualified applicants with disabilities to fill their vacancies. Each year, trained recruiters from Federal agencies conduct personal interviews with interested students with disabilities at over 230 colleges and university campuses across the nation. These candidates represent all majors and range from college freshmen to graduate students and law students.
This is an opportunity for students with disabilities seeking summer internships, Student Career Education, and for those that have graduated and are looking for permanent employment to connect with potential employers.
The U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Disability Employment Policy, has put together a free database of approximately 1,800 new jobs of candidates with disabilities seeking work. On March 19, 2008, this database will be made available to participating Federal agencies. To access the database, employers can register online to obtain an ID at www.wrp.gov or work directly with their Agency Disability Employment Program Manager to obtain resumes.
For questions and inquiries contact Terry Thir, Departmental Disability Employment Program Manager, Office of Diversity at (202) 720-1146 or email Terry.Thir@usda.gov.
