USDA Celebrates Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day
Each year in April, USDA participates in the national Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day. This public education program connects what children learn at school with the actual working world. It encourages youth across the country to dream without limitations and to think imaginatively about their futures.
USDA's event will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the Patio, Jamie L. Whitten Building. USDA parents or legal guardians are invited to bring youth of 8 - 18 years of age to the event. All youth must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pre-registration is required.
This year's theme is "Making Choices for a Better World." USDA will hold a brief kick-off ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on the Patio. Mr. David Jamison, Associate Deputy Administrator, Dairy Programs, Agricultural Marketing Service, will provide the greetings. USDA agencies will provide exhibits and interactive activities to educate youth and to showcase the possibilities for future careers in agriculture. Agency mascots will also participate in the event.
A sign language interpreter is scheduled. If other accommodations are needed, please contact Terry Thir, Office of Diversity, at 202.720.1146 or 202.720.6382 TTY.
This event is sponsored by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, Office of Diversity.
